eldar fire dragons squad 1

The new Fire Dragon sculpts, along with so much of the Eldar range, are superb. The miniature that Games Workshop produced of the Exarch stands on top of partially-melted tank tracks; so I decided to include wreckage on the bases of all the Fire Dragons.

date: 2008-present (work-in-progress)
components: Fire Dragons, Green Stuff, Space Marine Rhino kit, sprue offcuts, Dire Avenger Exarch banners, plasticard, brass rod, metal Support Weapon crewman

I filed down the emblem on this Exarch's helmet. One of the two decorative ribbons was removed. This hand was taken from a Support Weapon crewman to represent him holding a melta bomb detonator. Converted Fire Dragon Exarch with Firepike
1. One of the Exarchs, with a Fire Pike. This has been subtly converted to make it slightly different from the standard miniature.

This arm holds a thoroughly converted Dragon's Breath Flamer - normally used on the Exarch model - made to look like a standard fusion gun. The fusion gun canister was made by repositioning the Flamer canister and adding thin strips of plasticard. The gun's handle was sourced from another Fire Dragon miniature. This pointing arm was left over from the second Exarch conversion. Having cut away the left arm and fusion gun from the original miniature, I had to fill in some detail using Green Stuff. The fusion gun muzzle was taken from another Fire Dragon miniature. This targeter is just visible on most of the regular miniatures; usually obscured by the weapon being held across the body. Heavily converted Fire Dragon
2. This Fire Dragon was heavily converted to provide an alternative pose for a standard squad member.

After cutting away the right arm it was necessary to restore some lost detail on the back of the miniature. Heavily converted Fire Dragon
