eldar night spinner turret

Having picked up one of the ageing Forge World Night Spinner conversion kits, I decided to update the design and bring it in line with the newer Firestorm kit. I also wanted to come up with a radically different design to the new plastic Night Spinner kit.

The Falcon turret was glued in place at a slight angle to mimic the Firestorm silhouette.

A spare Firestorm turret base was used here.

I wanted the weapons to be able to elevate, so used cylindrical styrene rods to allow this. Converted Forge World Eldar Night Spinner turret

1. The turret takes shape; I wanted to create something that looked similar to the Firestorm turret but still look unique.

2. I used plasticard and Green Stuff to extend the rear of the cockpit and match that of the Firestorm.

The barrels of the weapons were shortened slightly.

The blisters and fins were removed from the top of the weapons to give them a sleeker appearance.

The vents were filled in on the inner side of both weapons.

The weapon cowling was extended slightly on the outer side of both guns.

This small protrusion, modelled in Green Stuff, acts as a stop to prevent the weapons from rotating forwards below the horizontal. Converted Forge World Eldar Night Spinner weapons

4. The cockpit was mostly complete at this point. The right-hand weapon won't be glued onto the axle until after the model has been completely painted.
