The Eldar Hornet is a great little craft - the design is excellent and the rules make it a competitive and viable alternative to the ageing Vyper (whose model I'm not so keen on). I have a squadron of three - all are magnetised and can equip the same weapons as my Falcons and Wave Serpents.
date: 2013 - present (work-in-progress)
components: Forge World Eldar Hornets, neodymium magnets (various sizes), transparent styrene rods, brass rod, Green Stuff, plasticard (various thicknesses), High Elf Prince scenery element, cork
colour scheme: Craftworld Miruaun colour scheme (PDF), Basing colour scheme (PDF)
2. I used White Milliput to correct some minor mould imperfections.
3. One of the three Hornets, with an example weapon configuration.
4. The three Hornets in the squadron, undercoated and ready for painting, with magnetised weapons and cockpit canopies.
5. My planned colour scheme for the Hornets. This was based on the successful colour schemes for my Hemlock Wraithfighter and Guardian Heavy Weapon Platform.
6. My first fully-painted Hornet, armed with a pair of Pulse Lasers.
7. A dorsal view of the Hornet.
8. A ventral view of the Hornet.
9. A close-up of the transfers on the starboard front prong.
10. A close-up of the Hornet's cockpit, including a design from the Forge World Eldar transfer sheet.
11. A close-up view of the Hornet's pilot, with the magnetised cockpit canopy removed.
12. A close-up view of the tail of the Hornet, with one of my custom transfers applied. This is one of the runic designs for Craftworld Miruaun.
13. The magnetised flying base for the Hornet. The scenery element came from the High Elf Prince kit and I'm using it to represent some ruined Exodite architecture here.
