eldar void dragon phoenix

This superb model from Forge World inspired me to start building up a small force of the Eldar Pirate band "The Void Dragons", expanding on the sparse background information provided by Forge World and converting miniatures for them. I converted this model so that it could be armed with the standard Phoenix pulse laser or the twin Starcannons used by the Void Dragons on their Phoenixes.

date: 2008-present (work-in-progress)
components: Void Dragon Phoenix kit, plasticard, Green Stuff, 6mm diameter clear acrylic rod, neodymium rare earth magnets (various sizes), Eldar Heavy Weapon sprue, Falcon pulse laser

The magnet was attached at an angle so that the flyer can be positioned to appear as if it is ascending or descending. A hole was drilled into the base to accommodate the thicker stem. This 6mm-diameter transparent acrylic rod looks flimsy but holds the weight of the resin Phoenix very well. Custom flying base for flyers
2. The custom flying base. It can also be used with my Eldar skimmers such as the Falcons or the Eagle.

This Pulse Laser was taken from the Falcon kit. Protrusions from these weapon cowlings, taken from the Eldar Heavy Weapon sprue, fit neatly into recesses on the underside of the Phoenix and stop the weapon from rotating. Scratchbuilt Eldar Phoenix Pulse Laser
