about me

Here, unsurprisingly, you'll find a bit of information about me!
Eldar Avatar rune
Obsessive, ambitious, easily distracted
I currently live in Oxfordshire in the UK, with my wife and two children. I first started collecting Warhammer 40,000 back in the days of 2nd edition - back then I had Orks, Ultramarines and Eldar. Like most kids I had a lot of free time but not a lot of money, so eventually I stopped collecting but continued to have a passing interest in Games Workshop miniatures and the rich background surrounding the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

Once I'd grown up a bit, graduated from university and got a job in IT (and was looking for something to take my mind off it), I happened to pick up a copy of White Dwarf. This turned out to be the issue accompanying the launch of the new Eldar range and codex for 4th edition. I was astounded by the quality of the new kits and the incredible design work by Jes Goodwin (and the massive improvement over the decidely iffy sculpts and questionable designs of the 3rd edition range of miniatures). After that it was almost inevitable that I would start collecting again.

Having been drawn back into the fascinating and tragic story of the dwindling Eldar race, I decided to concentrate on just one collection of Craftworld Eldar and to put those models together to the best of my ability from start to finish. For me, that meant loads of conversions and ambitious projects (though I probably have a few too many on the go at any given time). Now that I'm in the real world of employment, married life and kids, I'm finding that I have a lot more money than when I was a child, but far less free time, so my collection is growing faster than I can paint it! At the start of 2011 I resolved to slow down a bit; finish the many conversions and projects you'll find on this site and start actually painting them. My purchasing has definitely slowed and I have managed to fully paint some models too. I also managed to play a few games using the 6th edition ruleset, including my first (and so far, only) Apocalypse game.

I hope that you find this site interesting and maybe pick up a few ideas for your own collection. If you'd like to get in touch with me, I'm always happy to offer any advice that I can to aspiring modellers and converters out there; please feel free to send me an e-mail or use the Disqus comments section on other pages of the site.
