eldar wave serpents

Using the techniques I developed for my Falcons, I extensively magnetised and converted my Wave Serpents and redesigned their interiors.

date: 2007-present (work-in-progress)
components (per Wave Serpent): 1x Wave Serpent, 1x Forge World Type II Wave Serpent conversion kit, plasticard (various thicknesses), Green Stuff, flying base, 6mm diameter clear acrylic rod, neodymium rare earth magnets (various sizes)

As with the Falcons, I recessed a couple of magnets into the hull to attach the Apocalypse command vehicle upgrade, if necessary. converted Wave Serpent hull close-up
1. Like the Falcons, I used the Forge World Type II conversion kits for my Wave Serpents and magnetised them extensively.

I'm not altogether sure why I filled in these bits in all honesty, but I've done so on all of my Eldar tanks! As with the Falcons, the under-hull weapon mount has been magnetised, which requires this bit of plasticard to be glued under the cockpit. Converted Wave Serpent hull

The floor has been covered over with a single piece of plasticard that has been cut to fit. I trimmed away some of the fiddly parts of the interior using wire clippers. Converted Wave Serpent interior

This area of the hull previously had three small gems/blisters, which were removed. The three small vents in the hull were filled in with Green Stuff. This small area of detail next to the cockpit was filled in. I changed this small sensor into another gem/blister using Green Stuff. I used Green Stuff to blend in the resin Type II wing extensions with the main hull. Similar to my Eagle conversion, I also removed some of the protruding fins. Converted Type II Wave Serpent
7. I made several aesthetic changes to further differentiate the Wave Serpent and Falcon designs. I wanted the Wave Serpent to look sleeker and less complicated than the Falcon, due to its role as a transport rather than an attack vehicle.

8. An example configuration using the magnetised weapon mounts. I much prefer the lower-profile Forge World turret, which is also positioned towards the rear of the vehicle (unlike the original, which sits further forwards) as this helps to emphasise the length of the Wave Serpent when compared to the Falcon.

9. As with my Falcons, I used Green Stuff to fill in the dip in the top of the Wave Serpent's hull to make it more streamlined.
